Dante Maxwell wants to be a Guru

I'm Dante, and I'd like to be your Guru.

It's my passion for guidance, my "shot-gun" skill set, and my ability to thrive in a remote working environment (I love it) that make this the most attractive role for me at this point.

I have to be honest; I don't look awesome on paper, and in the world of resumés and cover letters, there just seems to be no hope for this guy. However, when I finally got the chance to pick my friend's brain about what it was like being a Customer Success Guru with Shopify, there was no doubt in my mind that it would be an excellent fit for me.

Beyond that though, even this "application process", if you want to call it that, has been the most enriching experience I've had in years. It in its self has helped me build huge confidence in how I can bring my seemingly random skills together to not only have a fulfilling career, but to further develop multiple revenue sources based on what I'm passionate about.

Over the last couple of weeks, it was my intention to build a shop based on this business plan I wrote up in college 10 years ago. Back then, there wasn't a singular place online that could let me do the entire website and e-commerce portal without paying 3 or 4 companies and having to do a lot more coding myself.

This journey made me realize that this business plan is 100% do-able now thanks to Shopify. The Admin feature is really familiar to anyone who's ever even tried working with WordPress. I actually like it way better because it's more streamlined and purpose-driven. To me, that made it easier to focus on what I was doing and not get side-tracked by having to manage too many design elements. I was able to be creative in my design but keep it simple. I previewed a couple of the free themes and, checking out the only real online competition for my store idea (I've been their customer before and didn't realize they also use Shopify), I don't see why I wouldn't simply continue with the theme I've chosen once I get a custom domain and go live.

Having spent many years in finance and retail, I've been directly involved in tens of thousands of transactions. I've dealt with every type of payment method from cash to crypto currencies. From a merchant perspective, I love how there seems to be this underlying sense of motivation you get just by interfacing with the Admin portal.

I had the pleasure of viewing a live webinar facilitated by a Guru and it got me so pumped. In my past role, I would give presentations weekly, and put a lot of time and effort into making them - yet I'd have to go out of my pocket to buy snacks and coffee for my attendees, who were only ever giving me 40% of their attention at the most. I had no idea what to expect from the Shopify Webinar, and I was so glad that it was a Shopify Guru delivering it because I'd be able to see the presentation from multiple points-of-vew. What it came down to was that I wanted to be present, as I imagine the majority of the Webinar attendees are. Why? Because we are so excited to learn the key elements that will help us realize our dream of being web merchants. So, from a Facilitator point-of-view, that made me even more stoked because there's nothing better than guiding a bunch of people through something you're passionate about, when they themselves are there because they WANT to be; because they legitimately wish to absorb the knowledge.

That, in a rather wordy nutshell (you got off easy), is why I'd like to be the next Customer Success Guru recruited out here in beautiful British Columbia
